A professional website always has a trustworthy and informative page about the company or people who run the site. Most of the times, it is called as “About Us” page, or “Company Profile”. What is the benefits taking a little more time on this kind of page? First, you can specified you target market by giving description on what kind of customers/ clients that are suitable with what your site provides. Second, it will give the big picture of your site to your customers. Third, a good company profile will makes you stands out from the competitors and on searches.

Writing an “about us” page could be a big hassle if you don’t know how to clearly and deeply communicate the origins and scopes of your site. Following is ten steps for creating good company profile that you can finish in an hour or two:

1. Creates a rough list of important topic
There must be a lot that you want to write about your site/ company, thus you can write the points first. For example, for the first paragraph you’d like to talk about when and how your website was build. Then continue on with what your site do and provides. And finally finish with you competitive advantages (what makes you better or more unique compared to other similar sites)

2. Creates a rough draft
This step might sounds simple, just write anything that comes out from your minds and experiences based on the topics you’ve made on the first step – but it might take some times. When writing considers few tips: think about your customers (how they might react to your profile); don’t put too many facts; and be completely honest.

3. Finalize the draft
Take a lot of times to finalize the draft and gives it better and more attractive sentences. It is also really important to use proper grammars and verbs. Check and re-check again, try to read the page as an audience that doesn’t know anything about your site. Does it give good information without boring and complicated sentences?

4. Put pictures
Pictures are important to attract your customer, because there’s nothing more boring than a page that consists totally of texts. Be original; don’t use stock photos or just grabbing from the internet. If your site has a physical place/ store, put a photo of the building. You might to put a picture of the owner to make audience feels more warmly welcomed to the site.

5. Updates
Even though most “about us” pages on the internet don’t change really often, but it should be kept in mind that once every few months you’ll need to give necessary updates if there are any significant changes on your services and company.
